ASERA
is holding a second Pre-conference workshop for research students and
other early career researchers.
The
workshop will be held at Waikato University immediately before the ASERA
conference in Hamilton, New Zealand. It will begin at 9.30am on Tuesday
5th July and conclude in time for participants to go to the start of ASERA
on the evening of Wednesday 6th July.
The
Workshop will be led by Léonie Rennie, Cam McRobbie and Mark Hackling. The
broad focus will be on planning and writing about research rather than more specific
methodological aspects of research.
There
will be 4 themes addressed in the workshop:
- clarifying research topics
-
conceptualising the structure of the thesis
-
communicating within and beyond the thesis
- the thesis examination process
ASERA
is subsidising participation in this Workshop. Registration for the ASERA
Conference will mean no registration charge for the workshop; for
non-ASERA registrants the Workshop cost will be $60NZ.
Accommodation for the nights of July 4, 5 and 6 near Waikato
University will be available, and will be partly subsidised (details
available later). The workshop will be limited to 15 participants.
Those
interested in attending are asked to complete a Registration
of Interest form and to forward this to Professor Léonie Rennie at L.Rennie@curtin.edu.au, by May
27, 2005 at the latest.
If
there are more than 15 Registrations of Interest, selection will be made
in ways that maximize the diversity of students in terms of institutions
enrolled in for the research degree and areas of research interest. The
results of the selection will be notified by June 6, 2005.
