Te Kura Toi Tangata – The Faculty of Education may have had a name change or two over the years, but it’s never stopped striving to produce the highest quality graduates, undertake research that makes a difference and implement high quality professional learning and development. We set trends in research and teaching and continue to influence education policy and developments nationally and internationally.
We push boundaries and continue to strengthen our teaching and research partnerships with schools and stakeholders to produce quality graduates in areas such as teaching, education, Māori education, leadership, sport and leisure studies, human development and counsellor education.
Waikato was the first teachers’ training college to merge with a university. That was in 1991. We pride ourselves on a number of innovative firsts. We were the first to offer early childhood qualifications and teacher education online programmes. Our masters and PhD research programmes also broke new ground. We’re in an environment that lets us be at the cutting edge, and the Faculty of Education is determined to be part of these educational developments through the three interconnected disciplines of teaching, research and professional learning.
Whether you are a prospective student, staff member or researcher – we welcome you to join us on this journey.
