The Faculty of Education offers a range of postgraduate programmes for educators who want to enhance their career. For example the Master of Education (Professional Learning) suits mid-career educators and professional learning facilitators.
Literacy, Language and Numeracy
The University of Waikato’s Literacy, Language and Numeracy work aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2015 and specifically the Education-related Sustainable Development Goal 2015, Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.
Institutes and Centres
The Institute of Professional Learning provides high quality, research-informed programmes of professional learning and development that contribute to improved professional practice in early childhood centres, kura, schools and tertiary institutions nationally and internationally. Within the Institute is Learning4, Te Toi Tupu and the the Educational Leadership Centre.
Te Toi Tupu is a consortium that provides professional learning and development opportunities for the schooling sector through Ministry of Education funded projects.
The Centre for Educational Leadership Research provides research opportunities, development and support in professional leadership for educators nationally and internationally.
The National Centre of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults was established in 2009 through a contract with the Tertiary Education Commission and hosted by the University of Waikato, and focuses on literacy and numeracy for adults as a large-scale issue of national strategic importance. The Centre facilitates collaborations with key stakeholders both nationally and internationally.
