At the Faculty of Education the majority of Education papers and programmes are at postgraduate level. This broad area of study particularly suits people already employed in the education sector such as teachers. Completing study in Education can enhance your theoretical knowledge and classroom practice and provide future opportunities for professional development or higher study.

Education includes areas such as; adult literacy and numeracy education, educational leadership, language and literacy education, Māori medium teaching, mathematics education, restorative practices and science, environmental and technology education.

Programmes in Education such as the PGDip(Ed) can also be tailored to suit your individual needs or interests. Within this qualification there are also a number of specialisations.

The academic pathway for people interested in Education is diverse, starting with our DipEd and GradDip(Ed) for graduates who have not studied Education before to the Doctor of Education (EdD) our highest qualification. The EdD is a professional doctorate for senior practitioners interested in research.
